Catherine Lowe’s 100% extrafine, superior creates a Minimalist Hat that overflows with grace and integrity. This yarn’s extremely stable stitch structure and stunning stitch definition comes from the single, thread-like strands of merino which are wound parallel, not twisted. A Minimalist Hat in Merino 3 will retain its shape and appearance through countless wears and washes!

The Details

FINISHED SIZE
Approx. 19"/48cm around (fits 20–23"/51–58cm head); approx. 11"/28cm deep for medium slouch.

YARN
1 skein (400 yds/365m).
Or approx. 300 yds/275m of a similar light fingering or lace-weight yarn.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US 1½ (2.5mm) 16"/40cm circular needle and set of 5 double-points, or size to obtain gauge.
US 0 (2mm) 16"/40cm circular needle, or two sizes smaller than gauge needle, for cast-on and edging.
5 locking markers, one in a contrast color to designate beginning of round.
Blunt darning needle to finish.

GAUGE
Approx. 36 sts/44 rounds = 4"/10cm in stockinette stitch (knit every round).

KNITTER'S NOTE
We suggest keeping a within arms reach as you knit. It'll make a dropped stitch or strand much easier to catch and repair!
